The dissipation of static charge is very important because semiconductor and many other complicated electronics components are vulnerable to the effects of electrostatic charge. The dust can be attracted to Cleanroom walls, floors and ceilings, and to equipment surface, and directly to circuits and semiconductor devices because of the devastating effects due to the static problem. The build-up of static charge can result in uncontrolled ESD capable of affecting numerous devices. It is, therefore, essential to limit the materials to those capable of dissipating static charge (10e6-8 ohms/square surface resistivity), and to provide grounded connections by means of wiring or secure contact with other grounded materials.
